SAIGON - PHU QUOC, Why not? let's change plans again
Arrived at 05:30 with the bus in District 1, walked around, had the most disgusting Vietnamese noodlesoup (Pho Bo Kho, Vietnamse style), I almost puked...jagh! And some Vietnamese prostitus kept folowing me whahaa. It was hard to find a company that organised biketours through the Mekong, the ones on the internet were way to expensive! And no Easyriders on the street here in Saigon. Hmm, what should I do? Called my local friend and asked him to visit me in a few days near Phu Quoc. I just booked an airplane ticket for this morning, and because I was last minute it was very cheap! The motorbike to the Domestic Airport was almost falling apart, but who cares for 50.000 Dong. This is the way I like to travel, spontaneous and never know what will happen in a few hours. And for the next few days? Diving and relaxing on the sunny beaches of Vietnams biggest island. In the airplane I met the guy from the diveshop, he tried to arrange cheap accomodation, but I found better places. Making friends in the airport was a good idea, free taxi and discount for diving.
Phu Quoc changed in the last few years, became touristic and prices doubled/tripled since 2007. So when your travelling with a old LP guide, it's useless. Thanks Karien for borrowing your LP ;-)
Spent the whole day with walking and swimming on Long Beach, visiting Duong Dong and drinking with some retired Dutch people.
