Enjoying life in sunny Melbourne
Hi there!!!
Yes, again a message from Melbourne. After many days of searching jobs and apartments I'm still in the same hostel and enjoying free time. Plans changing everyday. Last week I met a nice French and Canadian girl with abig Ford Falcon and we are planning to start a roadtrip to Byron Bay around Easter. Well at least, if she doesn't destroy the car after hitting more poles and stuff ;-) The reverse is broken so that will be fun driving. Those girls were staying in an awesome apartment near St Kilda and the beach, with a huge sauna inside and a real swimmingpool in the backyard...damn! We were looking for more people to join, but we didn'tfound anyinteresting people yet.
Last weekend I spend around the beaches, running from Port Melbourne to Brighton and back to St Kilda, almost 5 hours! I met some cool people there. In Brighton I got a free kitesurfing lesson on the beach, jumping and flying around...adrenaline rush. Met some old Ozzies that were so nice to share their wine with me. Yess on this trip I learned to drink white wine. Also a guy from South Africa that started shooting pictures of me for modelling...whahaa, well he was not gay :-) There was this Join In festival were I played some drums and the food everywhere was delicious. Last weekend was great! Only stupid thing is that I wanted to go to the Billboard Club because Boys Noize was performing there and the Ozzie at the door didn't like my (sober) face...so they refused me at the door 'Sold out for you' and the let many others in without tickets. Thanks for all the messages guys that it was off da hook inside!
Before that weekend I had 2 days of Sales training. Yes, I went to an interview for door-2-door sales of an energy company (S.E.). The training was fun, everyone cool, nice atmosphere, yess I was loaded with energy to start! So this Monday I started in Dean's team. Most of the teammembers were leaving soon so they had to build a new team. It started quite good, party in the bus, funny teammembers (Kevin your Dutch sounds sick!). Jammo was my 'teacher' today, he was quite new as well. Knocking on all the doors, doing your pitch and actually some people sign. Ofcourse it was a good deal. But Jammo why are you so afraid of all those dogs? Don't watch the news here that much ;-) At 7pm I was out on my own...and I had this t-shirt with the companyname on the chest...not good! People just change their behaviour when they see that. Lots of slamming doors and people that were having dinner or watching tv. The good thing is that there were a lot of chill foreign families in my street, so I had some good conversations for practising. But yeah, I got lots of bills and no signed contracts. Too many hassle with all these signings, phonecalls, verifications blabla. Nextday I surprised everyone at the office with telling them that I quit the job :-) Sorry guys, at the moment I'm way to kind and chill for this.
So what do you do after this? Chilling in the sun, sunbathing on the grass in CBD, having those tastefull cinamon/apple brownies, walking around, shopping, watching all those cool streetartists. I was happy Roos joined me sometimes. I went out with the people from the hostel sometimes, relaxing people. Everyday I spent time on the internet looking for jobs. Even McDonalds refused to give me a job whahahaha! Well the main reasons everywhere; too old, no drivers license, not enough experience, not an Australian citizen and more.
I can just say; smile, be positive and enjoy this wonderfull life here! I still get a lot of compliments; grannies that tell me how goodlooking I am and Asian guys that tell me that I'm so handsome whhaha!
And I understand why bikers here were helmets. Damn, some of those Ozzies can be really aggressive. Even grandpa's slamming windows and attack tramdrivers. During the evenings and nights I saw many big fights with the police. One incident I cant forget. Also during the day people loose their mind. I was sitting in the tram and this young woman in a wheelchair went a little bit crazy. They called an ambulance and the police. This chick started screaming and shouting that the police wanted to kill her. She faked that they threw her out of here wheelchair and fell on the street. She started throwing her shoes and one guy on the streets starts bothering the policemen. They push him away softly and he falls down on the road with a lot of theatre (almost hit by a car). Well this all ended up in more screaming, aggressive people and throwing stuff. WELCOME TO MELBOURNE :-) I just can't stop laughing when I see this happening.
Today I had an interview again, waiting for a positive answer. This weekend the big Formula 1 Grand Prix!!! Today you could hear the cars racing on the racecourse in Albert Park, you could here the roaring engines loudly on the beach. Stuntplanes flying around all the time...wicked! I just can' t wait till SuperSunday. And this Saturday I'm working for the 2nd time this year :-) I need to, cause I'm running out of money fast.
